Did you know that teeth whitening does more than just give you beautiful pearly whites? And that when you whiten your teeth, you are actually enhancing your image and making a better first impression on people? From a purely social perspective, we have a number of studies that show when people meet someone new, 53 percent will notice the new person’s smile first. This is important because we also know that most people make a judgment call, also known as a first impression, about a person within the first seven to 15 seconds of meeting them. This means that having a great smile makes you’re more likely to create a lasting impression. This also holds true when you consider that 89 percent of people believe that a wonderful smile goes miles to making you look more attractive. Smiling with perfect teeth, in other words, is a good thing. In a similar survey, it was found that 52 percent of people would smile more if they had better-looking teeth. Teeth whitening is a great way to start down the road to having the smile you have always wanted. Don’t be like 26 percent of the population who knows a dentist can improve their appearance, but won’t take that critical first step to making their smile brilliant. Teeth whitening is simple, fast, and can make the world of difference the next time you are in a situation where you need to use your smile, like on a job interview or when giving an important presentation.
With teeth whitening increasing in popularity of late, there are a number of solutions that have emerged for people to try. From whitening toothpastes to do-it-yourself home kits, there are many ways a person can achieve the goal of teeth whitening. Once you decide that you want the social upgrade of whiter teeth, you will have to choose between one of three primary methods.
For most of our patients, the easiest way to get their teeth whitening done is to come into the clinic. Here, we will take care of all your whitening needs within a safe and medically controlled environment, where the only thing you will need to worry about is the shade you want. There are also some patients who come in with a desire to do it themselves in the privacy and comfort of their own home. For these patients, we can recommend solutions and make sure that you are doing it correctly at home, with the indirect participation of your dentist. Finally, ardent do-it-yourself patients may prefer to just go to the store, buy a kit, and do all the work at home themselves. Even for this group, we strongly recommend coming in for an examination first. A full dental examination can save you time and money in the event you have a condition that precludes you from whitening or have a small problem that needs correcting before you proceed to whiten.
